Situation:

Exposing children to Rugby League is essential for the growth and continued support of the sport. So as an enjoyable and fun way of exposing children between the age of 5 to 11 to Rugby League the RFL commissioned this online introductory experience and the Interactive Zone ideal was born. An aim of the project was to have an educational element so parents and hopefully teachers would encourage youngsters to play, have fun and learn about Rugby League. The RFL also wanted the Interactive Zone to touch upon basic skills and fundamentals in the hope youngsters would take up the sport.

Approach:

After scooping out for activities, games and exercises that were required we began to create the visual concepts and illustrations for the scenes and the character, the Maine Man. With the scenes and characters approved we set about generating the regular animations and constant loops, like walking and head scratching etc. After many more illustrations and animations had been created we were ready to stitch the whole thing together including video, sound effects and the data source for the quiz.
