Federation Shield Branding and promotional literature

2006 was the inaugural year for the Federation Shield, an international rugby league competition with teams competing from all four corners of the globe. The event organisers, the Rugby Football League (RFL) demanded a fresh dynamic look for this event, one that would appeal to all rugby league fans. They realised that the event is very different to existing competitions and the event could appeal to families and various people outside the rugby league circle.
brief
As one of the The Rugby Football League's marketing and design companies largely responsible for most event campaigns, Fluid were commissioned to create the identity and campaign promotional literature. Large emphasis had to be placed on the southern hemisphere teams and their influence on the competition to create an international flavour. The design had to be flexible to apply across the various mediums used to publicise the event, including posters, flyers, web banners, press adverts and sponsorship.
The event took place in august 2006 and as been a massive success breaking all forecasted attendances. Fluid has been assigned for the 2007 campaign.
