Fluid have just launched a flash based interactive zone on the RFL web site aimed at 5-11 year olds in an attempt to introduce Rugby League to the younger generation. The creation features fun based activities such as a quiz, arithmetic game, jigsaws, equipment game, videos and a video referee game. All the games both educate youngsters and shows them basic principals and fundamentals of Rugby League in a fun and entertaining environment.
The entire production was created in-house at Fluid including the initial concepts with illustrations, animation, scripting, video and sound effects all involved in the 12 week production time. Launch at the end of March the project has received excellent feedback from the Rugby League community.
The star of the Interactive Zone is the Maine Man, which is a lion based on the British Rugby League lion. The Maine Man introduces the games as he runs up and down the touchline to different screens. The next objective is to introduce the Maine Man and his Interactive Zone into schools as many of the activities have an educational value and encourages sports.
